January 24 (9am-5:30pm) - LEED Green Associate Exam Prep:

The Green Associate Exam Prep Seminar will provide an introduction to LEED and green building principles, and an overview of all content covered on the Green Associate exam. All candidates who wish to become a LEED AP need to start by first becoming a Green Associate (referred to as Tier 1 accreditation). Topics covered include project registration and LEED certification process, overview of sustainable design concepts that are covered across all LEED rating systems, and a road map for how to organize your post-seminar prep.
AIA Credits: 8.0 HSW/SD LUs.

January 25 (9am-5:30pm) - Green Building Academy:

Credits: 8.0 AIA HSW/SD + 8.0 GBCI CE Hours for LEED CMP (Including 5.5 LEED-Specific Hours)

Education Sessions included in this workshop:

Going Green, Being Green, Saving Green - This session is ideal for anyone wishing to learn more about incorporating green building strategies into their projects. The seminar will discuss the importance of green building and the integrative design and construction processes. Since LEED is the most prominent of the tools, the presenter will use the LEED categories to describe the concepts and strategies relevant to sustainable and efficient design and construction processes.

Minimum Programs Requirements of LEED (MPR) - This session on Minimum Program Requirements provides crucial information that every potential LEED project must comply with in order to become certified. This course will provide guidance for different building types, covering minimum square foot requirements, occupancy rates, as well as, descriptions to assist the project team towards compliance.

Intro to Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) - Learn the ins and outs of performing a life cycle assessment and life cycle cost analysis. This session will discuss the importance of making well-informed decisions about products or processes, based on environmental impacts and future expenses. The seminar will also provide insight on the relationship between green building goals, integrated project delivery, and life cycle assessments.

Site Development Considerations for LEED NC - This session will provide an overview of the characteristics of a site that should be protected versus characteristics that make a site ideal for development. It will cover reasons why certain vulnerable sites should be avoided and why the development of others would result in a more sustainable built environment.

Educating the Client: Owner, Operator, Occupant, and the Community - Learn about green building education strategies, specific to the client as the owner, the building operator, the tenant, and the community. This session will place an emphasis on training and documentation during the design and construction phase as related to the different LEED rating systems, as well as training and outreach during the occupancy phase.
